Letter to Middle England
The How would that make you feel? series was inspired by the millions of Americans who voted for humanity in two thousand and eight and the hundreds of millions of people across the world who dared to believe in an alternative narrative, in the better side of our collective humanity. It was indeed kindled by the courage of a Senator Barack Obama, now President of the United States of America, who defied our doubts and believed in our latent optimism when he embarked on one of the most courageous pilgrimages of modern times, to become the first African American President of that country.
It was President Obama who, on the fourth of June, two thousand and eight, triggered the desire in me to start writing again after eighteen years. It was the day of his successful nomination as presidential candidate of the Democratic Party…
