Ain’t no Black or White

…Nor have they stemmed the disintegration of the communities these students come from; or the spiralling violence among their predominantly disadvantaged peers, in the inner cities.

The reason is simple. The symptoms are being tackled, the root causes not. The value system of a society that punishes differences, scorns vulnerability and believes, fundamentally, that even though all men are born equal, some are more equal than others, remains intact. Billions of pounds, however, is a high price to pay to avoid the dialogue we must have as a society. It literally is equivalent to putting money down the toilet. It has only paid for the tip of the iceberg, a handful of beneficiaries in education…
